Contact Cements: elastomers (e. g., polychlorobutadiene) in conjunction with adhesive resins (e. g., alkylphenol or modified phenolic resins); bonding is obtained by contact under pressure between two almost dry adhesive layers. Uses: wood, plastics, rubber, metals.
Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives, e. g., natural and synthetic rubbers in conjunction with modified natural resins and/or synthetic resins; also polyacrylates, poly(vinyl ethers). Uses: nonspecific adhesion to virtually any surfaces, more particularly for the permanently tacky coating of tapes, films, and labels.
