The characteristics and fields ofapplications ofpolychloroprene and acrylic dispersion adhesives are similar to those of solvent-containing adhesives. However, the adhesive itself is dispersed rather than dissolved in water. In contrast to solvent-containing adhesives, dispersion adhesives cannot be reactivated.. When delivered, dispersion adhesives are nonflammable, which is an advantage for both storage and production. Owing to their high solids content, dispersion adhesives have a high productivity. The drying time can be shortened by means of heat supply (infrared, hot air).
Dispersion adhesives can be used with a wide variety of materials, including wood, paper, board, cork, leather, felt, textiles, rubber, plastics, foamed material, glass, ceramics and coated metals.
Most frequently, the adhesive is applied to both adherents, which are joined under pressure after drying (the color changes from white to transparent).
