In addition to the main end uses described earlier, TPA’s are used in a number of other specialised areas.
Formulating coatings for this application is very similar to that for coatings for concrete or masonry. The coating, applied with conventional lining equipment, must be able to tolerate slight surface wetness and very cold air temperatures. Acrylics offer the combination of quick drying, excellent chemical resistance and toughness, as well as adhesion to cementitious surfaces.
TPA’s for temporary road marking applications, Paraloid B66 for example, when traffic is being diverted due to road works, require high carboxyl content for easy removal by alkaline cleaners.
