Hot-seal adhesives are dispersions or solutions based on polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl acetate and polyacrylates. When the water or solvent is allowed to evaporate, a coating is generated on the substrates (e. g. a printed board) that will seal under heat. Hot melts (generally based on EVA copolymers) can also be used as hot-seal adhesives, by depositing them on the substrate with roller coating application or extrusion. Hot-seal coatings are used primarily in the packaging industry (blister packs) or in foil laminating. The bonding process is similar to the processing of hot melts; here, the adhesive layer is melted together with the blister by means of a heated sealing tool applied until the softening point of the coating is reached. After wetting of the adherents, the layer immediately solidifies upon cooling under pressure [13].
